SportsRecruits: a free profile coaches can search

SportsRecruits gives athletes a free profile with unlimited video, academic and athletic stats, and a schedule of events, and college coaches can search that database. Its strength is adoption on the coach side and through clubs: when your club or high school runs its recruiting through SportsRecruits, coaches who follow that club see you without extra work. A premium upgrade exists and is priced inside the product.

It is a good fit if you are already in a SportsRecruits-connected club. It is a weaker fit if you are not, because a profile that nobody is pointed at still needs email to get seen.

FieldLevel: recruiting through coach endorsements

FieldLevel is a network where high school and club coaches recommend players to college coaches. The basic network is free for athletes, and premium tiers, which add direct college contacts and larger profile visibility, are priced in-app. College coaches, especially at D2, D3, NAIA, and junior college, use it to get honest evaluations from people they trust.

It works best when your current coach is active on FieldLevel and willing to vouch for you. If your coach is not on it, the free tier is still a reasonable profile to have, but the endorsement engine that makes FieldLevel different will not run.

CaptainU (Stack Athlete): inexpensive self-serve tools

CaptainU, now part of Stack Athlete, offers a free Bronze profile with messaging and school matching, then Silver at $22.50 a month, Gold at $39.95 a month with a scheduled call with a recruiting counselor, and Platinum at $199.95 a month with a dedicated counselor. There is no contract, and the free tier is genuinely usable for building a profile and starting outreach.

It is the closest thing on this list to "NCSA without the package": the counselor tiers give you some human guidance at a monthly price instead of an upfront one.

Recruit Playbook: a pipeline tracker with a free tier

Recruit Playbook is a self-serve platform for athletes who want to run recruiting like a project: a full athlete profile, coach contact tools, email templates, and a pipeline that tracks each school from research to offer. The free tier covers the profile and a five-school pipeline; paid plans unlock unlimited schools and are priced in-app.

It fits organized families who like a system and do not need anyone to write emails for them.

Rosterhunter: roster openings and unlimited email

Rosterhunter is a college roster database. It shows which programs have openings at your position and class year, gives you the coach contact, and lets you email as many coaches as you want on every plan. It costs $0.99 for the first three days, then $19.99 a month, $49.99 a quarter, or $149.99 a year.

It is the strongest option on this list for one specific job: finding the programs that actually need a player like you before you email anyone. It does not draft the email for you, so pair it with a template or a generator.

For families who have no idea how recruiting works, who are outside the club and showcase circuit, or who are recruiting internationally, that structure has real value. The free NCSA profile is also worth having so you exist in the database coaches search.

Pay for the NCSA package if you want a person accountable for guiding you and you can afford it. Do not pay for it expecting NCSA to recruit you; every alternative here, and NCSA itself, still relies on the athlete's film, numbers, and direct communication with coaches.
