What does baseball recruiting software do?

Baseball recruiting software helps a high school or travel ball player get in front of college coaches: it holds the coach contacts, helps write and send the emails, and tracks who responds. NextCommit covers 6,056 active college baseball coaches at 1,615 programs across NCAA Division I, II, and III, NAIA, and junior college. It writes a different email for each coach from the player's stats, film, and grades, sends it from the player's own Gmail, and tracks opens, replies, and film views so the player knows who to follow up with.

How NextCommit works for baseball recruiting

  1. Step 1

Build a profile coaches can evaluate fast

Add your position, grad year, GPA, film, and the numbers baseball coaches ask for: 60-yard time, exit velocity, pitching velocity, throwing velocity, and pop time. The profile builder is free.

    What coaches see first

    • Position and grad year
    • GPA
    • Film link
    • 60-yard time
    • Exit velocity
    • Pitching velocity
    • Throwing velocity
    • Pop time
    • Club team
  2. Step 2

    Pick the programs that fit

Search 1,615 college baseball programs by division, conference, and region. Pro adds roster needs for 1,300+ programs, a Recruit Score division-fit read, and school matching, so your list starts with programs that need your position.

  3. Step 3

Send an email written for each coach

AI writes a different email for every coach from your stats, film, grades, and goals, and you can edit any of them before they send. Emails go out from your own Gmail in scheduled batches: 10 a week on the free plan, 50 on Varsity, and 200 on Pro.

A personalized email to a college baseball coach that references the program's season and the player's GPA, 60-yard time, and exit velocity
  4. Step 4

See who's interested and follow up

On Varsity and Pro, track opens, replies, and film views, get a follow-up suggested when a coach shows interest, and keep every coach conversation in one message center. Pro also sends coach DMs on X.

When can college baseball coaches contact you?

NCAA Division I baseball coaches cannot call you or send recruiting materials or electronic messages until August 1 before your junior year, and off-campus contact waits until September 1 of that year. The rule limits coaches, not you: you can email coaches before then, and other divisions follow their own rules.

Where NextCommit fits among baseball recruiting apps

Baseball recruiting services do four different jobs, and no single site covers all of them. NextCommit does the last one: direct outreach.

Showcases and scoutingPut verified metrics in front of the college coaches and scouts who follow those events.Examples: Perfect Game, PBR
Profile networksHold a profile and video coaches can search. On FieldLevel, your high school or travel coach can endorse you to college coaches.Examples: FieldLevel, SportsRecruits
Full-service recruitingSell packages that include a human recruiting coach and a profile network.Examples: NCSA
Direct outreachWrite and send personalized emails to the coaches you choose, then track opens, replies, and follow-ups.Examples: NextCommit

For most players, the strongest low-cost setup is a free FieldLevel profile your coach endorses plus direct email to the coaches you want. FieldLevel's free plan does not let athletes send the first message to a college coach; NextCommit is built for that first message. Add a showcase once your verified metrics fit the level of the coaches who attend.

Baseball recruiting software FAQ

What is the best baseball recruiting app?+

It depends on the job. FieldLevel is the best free profile network, especially when your high school or travel coach is active on it. PBR and Perfect Game put verified metrics in front of college coaches and scouts. NextCommit is built for direct outreach: it writes a personalized email to each college coach you choose, sends it from your own Gmail, and tracks who opens and replies. Most players do best with a free profile plus direct email.

Is there a free baseball recruiting app?+

Yes. NextCommit's free plan includes the full college coach database, AI-personalized emails, and 10 coach emails a week sent from your own Gmail, with no credit card. The free Baseball Recruit Score shows which divisions your numbers fit, and FieldLevel and PBR also offer free profiles.

How many college baseball coaches are in NextCommit?+

As of October 2026, 6,056 active college baseball coaches at 1,615 programs: 1,196 coaches at 307 NCAA Division I programs, 941 at 237 Division II programs, 1,619 at 380 Division III programs, 727 at 190 NAIA programs, and 1,564 at 506 junior colleges.

When can college baseball coaches contact you?+

For NCAA Division I, August 1 before your junior year of high school. Under rules adopted in April 2023, D1 baseball coaches cannot call you or send recruiting materials or electronic messages before then, and off-campus contact waits until September 1 of junior year. You can email coaches before that date, and other divisions follow their own rules.

How is NextCommit different from FieldLevel?+

FieldLevel is a profile network: college coaches search athletes, and your high school or travel coach can endorse you to coaches in their network. On FieldLevel's free plan, athletes cannot send the first message to a college coach. NextCommit is built for that first message: it writes and sends personalized emails to the coaches you choose and tracks the response. Many players use both.

Does NextCommit send emails from my own email address?+

Yes. You connect a Gmail account, and every email goes out from that address in scheduled batches, so baseball coaches see you, not a service, and reply straight to your inbox. Varsity and Pro also collect the replies in NextCommit's message center.

Can parents use NextCommit for their player?+

Yes. A parent can sign up as the parent, build the profile together with their player, and send outreach from the Gmail account the family connects. Varsity and Pro add open, reply, and film-view tracking, so you can see which coaches are paying attention.

Can travel baseball clubs use NextCommit?+

Yes. Club plans give every player on the roster a free account, and staff activate the players who are recruiting. Standard is $199 a month with 20 active athletes included, then $10 a month for each additional active athlete. White Label is $299 a month and adds your club's logo, colors, and subdomain. Staff seats are unlimited, and there is no contract or setup fee.

Is NextCommit a baseball recruiting app I have to download?+

No download is needed. NextCommit runs in the web browser on your phone, tablet, or computer. Create a free account at nextcommit.ai and connect Gmail to start sending.
